Review of the Silva Ultramind System

by Benjamin Langley on June 10, 2008 · 15 comments

I have studied hundreds of books/products for meditation, expanded awareness, and personal development. Some I have read once, and then set aside. Some I read or listen to, and then I have to keep coming back again and again.

Most of the Silva products I have studied fall into the second category.

I first stumbled across the Silva Method in the mid ’90s. I had purchased some martial arts videos, and one of the resources the instructor mentioned was the Silva Method. So I picked up a book (The Silva Mind Control Method for Mental Dynamics), read it, and read it again. It was a very easy and informative read. I practiced the exercises, and noticed some results. I was impressed, but not blown away.

It was years later, and I had purchased another manual from the same martial arts instructor (Dr. John La Tourrette). In it, he recommended a Silva Method audio course. It was called “The Basic Lecture Series” (BLS). It had a money-back guarantee, so I decided to order a copy and give it a shot.

I was completely blown away!

I had no idea how much more profound the exercises are when you follow along with the guided version on audio (cassette at the time… CD or mp3, now). This completely changed everything for me.

I had been searching Northwest Florida for a martial arts school that could effectively teach students the skills I was looking for, but I had found nothing. I had heard of people starting their own training group (with friends or family), but I wasn’t very good at asking anybody (particularly friends or family) for anything at this point in my life. Within a year of studying the BLS, I had started a training group consisting of friends, and occasionally family as well. They would come over to my house to train 3-5 times a week. I would study books and videos on martial arts, and then share the techniques with my friends.

This was quite a breakthrough for me. Before this, life was just stuff that happened that I had to deal with… sometimes it was good, sometimes it was bad, but it was almost completely out of my control.

This training group was a big step back toward the ‘driver’s seat’ of my own life…

and I doubt I would have ever done it if it weren’t for the Silva Method.

Another important event had occurred perhaps 6 months earlier. When I started studying the BLS, I was about 2 years into an on-again, off-again, breakup-and-makeup relationship with a single mother. It had become exhausting, but I didn’t feel emotionally strong enough to be alone. Within a few months of listening to this course, we finally reached closure… and we have maintained a healthy friendship.

Now, for those of you who don’t know, Jose Silva lived from 1914 to 1999, and he spent the majority of his adult life researching the mind and meditation. In his studies, Jose came across many exceptional people. It was at this point that he could begin to notice how truly exceptional and successful people are different. As Jose would say, they use more of their minds, and they use them in a special way.

But how does this help out us more-or-less average folks? Fortunately for us, Jose devised a method by which anyone could learn to think and behave like a genius. He created a simple system that anybody can follow. The original system was taught in the “Basic Lecture Series”, but later in life, Jose further refined and expanded his techniques, which led to the Silva Ultramind programs.

I have studied two different Silva Ultramind programs: “The Silva Ultramind ESP System” and “Silva Ultramind’s Remote Viewing and Remote Influencing

Both products are incredibly useful, and both have powerful auditory exercises which give you a frame of reference for the proper states of mind. In my opinion, out of the two, “Silva Ultramind’s Remote Viewing and Remote Influencing” (RV-RI) is the far superior program.

“The Silva Ultramind ESP System” (ESP) audio program is also good, just not as good. One of the trainers, Ed Bernd, is absolutely excellent. The course contains guided exercises which will help you develop the necessary levels of mind in order to learn these skills.

On the other hand, both the trainers (Dennis Higgins and coincidentally, Dr. John La Tourrette) on the RV-RI course are excellent. All the exercises are focused and well explained. As you follow through the mind training sequences, you will quickly develop the ability to step into just the right level of mind to solve your problem, no matter what that problem may be.

There are guided exercises to take you all the way from simple relaxation, to discovering your life’s purpose. There is advice on creating and maintaining magnificent relationships and creating incredible business opportunities for yourself and those you care about. It is all done by learning how to use your mind in a special way.

Perhaps the best thing, is how incredibly easy the program is. It is explained in simple, down-to-earth language, and it’s a breeze to follow. All you have to do is listen. When it’s time for a guided exercise, you just close your eyes, relax, listen, and follow along.

Now again, the RV-RI course is my favorite, but either one of these courses will:

  • Deepen your meditation
  • Deepen your relaxation
  • Make entering a meditative state quick and easy
  • Give you a powerful understanding of how to use different levels of mind
  • Help you refine your goals
  • Supercharge your affirmations (up to 1000 times more powerful than before)
  • Help you see opportunities that you didn’t recognize before
  • Help you attract new opportunities in your life
  • Help you attract the right people into your life for business or personal relationships
  • Help you to deeply understand yourself and those around you
  • Help you to heal yourself and others
  • Help you discover your life’s purpose

Truly, these are both powerful, life-changing products.

As always, I wish you the best of luck on your journey!

P.S. I can’t put into words how powerful the experience of these exercises can be… you have to experience it for yourself. Many people aren’t willing to try something new to get better results in life… they tend to stay stuck… if you keep doing the same things you will keep getting the same results!  On the other hand, those who are willing to take steps toward their own goals now will eventually achieve them… the Silva Method can be an priceless ally on your journey!

Next to learning from an instructor, the UltraMind System and the Remote Viewing Home Study courses are an excellent way to learn and master the art of Dynamic Meditation!

Ben June 10, 2008 at 9:11 PM

I agree completely, Ed.

Ideally, you can have the best of both worlds by listening to the conditioning cycles on your own and studying with a qualified instructor, but it’s not necessary. The courses were designed to be self-contained, and are excellent stand alone products.

It is incredible what these courses can do for people when they are willing to take that first step.

Hey Ben-

How are you?

I found your blog through a search on google.

I’m new to these types of mind power/meditation techninques.

I just started listening to Silva Ultramind’s Remote Viewing audios (on CD’s 1 and 2)

I’ll let you know when I’m through with the program…

Ben August 11, 2008 at 8:11 AM

Hey Adriel,

I’m excellent… and congratulations on taking your first step…

Be sure to do at least 1 of the guided meditations (mental training exercises) per day for the first 30 days to establish bridges from your conscious mind to the deeper parts of your mind.

I would love to hear how you are progressing, so feel free to comment again or send me an e-mail!

The album it’s ok but you’ll only learn some things that are covered on the full Ultramind ESP Seminar.

I recommend to take the 2 days seminar ( or to download the full seminar from

I went to this site.

I’m not convinced. The actual material covered is nice, but what makes a course or class powerful is the trainer. I looked all over this site, and couldn’t find any information on the trainers.

Dr John La Tourrette is a powerful and skillful trainer.

Ed Bernd is a powerful and skillful trainer.

Who are the trainers for this course?

For whatever this is worth, it does seem reasonably priced.

Was wondering why exactly you feel that the Silva ultramind RV/RI is way better than the Ultramind ESP system. I have the ESP system and was wondering if I should go ahead and invest in the RV/RI one.

Benjamin June 29, 2010 at 7:40 AM

Hi John

If you are regularly doing the exercises from the Ultramind course, you’re doing fine. If you want to expand on it, the RV/RI course is great. If you are curious about Remote Viewing and/or Influence specifically, obviously the RV/RI course is a good option.

If you practicing regularly, you are already doing the most important part. More courses aren’t necessary, but they can be fun… and they can expand your knowledge and give you some more great ideas and practices. They also help you reinforce the material.

The reason I like RV/RI so much better, is I didn’t really enjoy any of the trainers (other than Ed Bernd) on the Ultramind course. I’m sure they are good people… they just didn’t resonate with me.

But that’s me.

It might be the perfect course with the ideal trainers for you.

I hope this helps!

Ed Bernd Jr is the trainer for The RVRI program it’s good but the other program covers the complete silva ultramind seminar (you’ll learn more). Just my 2 cents.

Benjamin June 29, 2010 at 7:42 AM

Thank you, James.

If Ed Bernd is the trainer, then it is only a matter of time before I purchase the course.

I’ll let you know what I think then.

Hi Benjamin,

I ordered the ESP system from Nightingale Conant yesterday so looking forward to it arriving. Im also re-listening to The Einstein Factors (while it’s being delivered) and have spent the last few months working through The Gateway Experience (onto Focus 21 now). Have you listened to/used these programmes and if so, what is your experience?

Benjamin July 24, 2010 at 10:05 AM

Thank you, Paul.

The real power of any program is realized through consistency… and it sounds like you’re doing that pretty well already.

I have seen NC’s ads for both The Einstein Factor, and The Gateway Experience, but I haven’t tried either one, yet.

The image streaming technique from The Einstein Factor reminds me a lot of the visualization practices from Psycho Cybernetics (another great NC program is Dan Kennedy’s updated audio version of Dr. Maxwell Maltz’s Psycho Cybernetics).

The ‘one-year program’ approach of The Gateway Experience is impressive, and I’m further impressed by the fact that they avoid over-exaggerated claims to sell their product… like some other brainwave entrainment programs have done (I’ll avoid naming any… I don’t want to get sued). :-)

Please check in and let me know how The Silva Method treats you… and share updates on results from other products you are using. You can post them here, or send me an e-mail at

Godspeed on your journey!

Hi Ben,
I read this review with interest. Just wondering – have you had a chance to review the product that James mentioned – the one at (Also, if James is reading this: why does he say that we’ll learn more from this one?)

Benjamin Langley November 7, 2010 at 10:12 AM

Hi Nancy,

I have not had the chance, yet.

Currently, I’m studying several of Laura Silva’s courses (Silva Life System, Silva Intuition System, Silva Master’s Circle)… and I like them quite a bit.

It might be a while before I get a chance to review that one… but even if it is the best course in the world, there are plenty of others that are very good to study for the time being… 😉

keep smiling,
