The breath of fire is a powerful Yoga/pranayama technique.
It can be done as a part of a larger meditation process, or as a separate solo exercise.
With it you can quickly:
- break and change your state (turn off the fight or flight response)
- energize your body (feel deeply awake and alive)
- begin the process of neurological transformation (for new learning and/or greater clarity)
When you practice this technique regularly, it can help you change or create virtually anything in your life!
Here’s the process:
- Find a comfortable, upright seated position
- start slowly
- breath in and out through the nose
- feel your lower belly push out when you inhale
- feel your lower belly pull in when you exhale
- begin to quicken the pace
- as you get comfortable, make the pace of breath faster and faster
As you get better, you can go longer and longer, but 30 seconds to a minute will be plenty to start.
I’ll be doing a video on this soon, to better explain the technique.
In order to keep a positive reference for the experience, it is useful to smile as much as possible during the technique… have fun with the breath of fire!
keep smiling,
ben
