I’m hoping you will take a new look at meditation with me…
Or perhaps just review some basics for an even deeper understanding.
It is always useful to be able to perceive a situation from multiple angles… and that is what we will do in this post and in this practice… deepen our flexibility of perception… which leads to flexibility of action!
The element of a system with the most flexibility will exert the most influence over the system.
I encourage you to practice these drills to improve your mind-body flexibility in Meditation as well as the rest of your life!
Let’s look at the title for a moment.
Finally… Master Meditation Now!
I’ve been working with the attitude that there is bunch of stuff to be done to ‘get to’ enlightenment… that was my original approach to martial arts and meditation. It does have it’s advantages.
But for me (perhaps due to my background in these disciplines), it was incredibly powerful to come from the point of view…
I’m an expert already
Another way to look at is
After all this work, study, practice, etc…. I finally get to be a master right now!?
Very Powerful!
When you blend a dedication to practice and improvement with an incredible amount of acceptance and an awesome attitude about self… you will experience incredible results.
I like to see students making use of the useful elements from both sides of the equation.
I want to encourage you towards new inspiration
or inspire you to new courage…;^)
Bring some of the attitude of…
I’m already there
into your meditation… after all, meditation is just something that enlightened people do.
In this audio… I talk about
- The ‘Work Hard for Enlightenment/Mastery’ approach (Rinzai),
- The ‘You’re Already a Master/Enlightened’ approach (Soto), &
- The ‘Sit on Your Butt/Do Nothing’ approach (which is fairly common in America, and probably shouldn’t even be called an ‘approach’)
As you listen, keep in mind that I build up to a powerful drill at the end… you can even walk through it with me right now!

Your Master Meditation Now task for this week is to say
I am a Meditation Master
- at least once a day for the entire week
- When you do this, notice what comes up (images, sounds, feelings)
- And as those feelings arise, accept them… smile into them (good or bad)… even thank them.
Just a little bit goes a long way…
keep smiling,
Ben
P.S. My current plan is to put out one of these posts every Wednesday, as long as I can come up with useful thoughts and drills for meditation practice… and I’m always studying and learning new stuff myself… so I hope you’re looking forward… the best is yet to come!
