The concept of scientific methods of mysticism has become a more and more interesting proposition for people.
One of the fastest ways to achieve deeper or expanded states of consciousness is through brainwave entrainment. Brainwave entrainment makes it easier for your mind to find the desired state, and the more you practice being in the desired state, the easier it is for you to get back there, with or without the brainwave tracks.
Brainwave entrainment programs are all over the place now. One of my favorites is the Silva Ultramind Remote Viewing Course, but this is just one example. This course uses a light tapping sound to help you enter the desired state, while the trainer leads you through a mental exercise.
Many brainwave programs now use a system called binaural beats. With binaural beats, one frequency is played into your left ear (say 190 cycles per second), and a second frequency is played into your right ear (say 200 cycles per second). When this happens, your brain automatically creates the ‘phantom’ frequency in an attempt to balance… the ‘phantom’ frequency is just the difference between the other two frequencies (10 cycles per second in this case).
Our normal day-to-day level of consciousness is referred to as Beta, and takes place at 15 cycles per second and up. This level of mind is often referred to as ‘monkey mind’ by meditators, as there is typically little control or directing of thoughts occurring at this level. Typically the mind is just running from one thought or subject to the next.
The next level down is Alpha. Alpha is associated with alert relaxation. The Alpha range is 8-14 cycles per second. Most people only encounter a strong Alpha state as they are going to sleep, waking up, or occasionally while daydreaming. Many long term meditators begin to spend most of their time in the Alpha range, even when they are moving about their day and doing things that most people would do in the Beta range.
Further down is Theta. Theta is the level where most psychic skills occur: remote viewing, remote influencing, distant healing etc. The Theta range is 4-7 cps. Theta is also associated with dreaming during sleep, and this is the only time most people experience it.
Frequently considered the bottom of the spectrum, Delta is usually associated with deep, dreamless sleep, rejuvenation of the body, and the deepest mystical experience… the disappearance of the ego. The Delta range is from 0.5-3.5 cps.
To summarize:
- Beta - monkey mind - 15 cps +
- Alpha - alert relaxation - 8-14 cps
- Theta - psychic skills - 4-7 cps
- Delta - enter the void - 0.5-3.5 cps
Using brainwave tracks to entrain to any of these deeper levels of mind creates a reference point for that level of brain activity. When you attain a deeper level of mind, or a broader perspective, or have a moment of satori, you can always get back to these states, and it grows easier and easier the more frequently you return to them (consistency and intensity). Once you have been there, you have a reference point. To use travel as a metaphor, I have reference points for L.A. and Kuwait City, but not London or Seattle… until you go to that place (mental or physical), you have no reference point for it. As you continue to practice your meditation, and bring it into your day-to-day life, you will gain reference points for more and more profound states. The easiest way to develop some very deep reference points very quickly it to use brainwave entrainment.
Establishing reference points for deep levels of mind while maintaining consciousness is a powerful doorway into mystical experience.
There are a variety of brainwave entrainment programs out there.

I also like “The Brainwave Suite” by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson, and any of the products by Kelly Howell. If you are interested in either of these, I have both listed in the Amazon box on the left sidebar. Take a look!
Once you begin to practice brainwave entrainment, you will be shocked at how fast you start to get incredible results!

You’re quite right! Brainwave entrainment is so very effective in reaching those deep meditative states. Now everyone can meditate like a Zen master!

Hi Paul,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I don’t know if I meditate quite a like a Zen Master just yet, but the entrainment has definitely made the process faster!
