So I was taking a shower, the other day, and something just popped into my mind.
I suddenly remembered some events that occurred over 20 years ago…
It was some complete lies I made up in 5th grade to impress the other kids.
There was a strong sensation of embarassment, and then I attempted to ’shake it off’.
As soon as the feelings started to subside… I remembered that they had come up several times before, and it occurred to me:
Hey, maybe I better deal with this…
In one of his seminars, NLP genius and Time Line Therapy pioneer, Tad James, stated that one of the tasks of the unconscious mind is to bring up challenging experiences for integration… you can keep pushing the challenging feelings to the side, but you will never get over them… you will never realize how much your life can change from letting them go… you will never integrate them until you begin to accept them. They will keep coming back until you face them, accept them, and let them go!
So I relaxed, brought the memories back to mind, and let the feelings flow.
I did some EFT tapping, while saying
Even though I still have these difficult and embarassing memories, I still deeply accept and appreciate myself
After a few moments of focusing, EFT, and deep breathing… there was nothing left of the feelings to speak of… I couldn’t detect any significant emotion still attached to the memories (even as I bring them back writing this… they are no more emotionally charged than the average trip to the grocery store).
It felt great to let it go!
The very next day… again in the shower… I remembered some things I had done trying to impress a girl about 7 years ago…
Again, I felt the rush of embarassment, and instinctively I wanted to ’shake it off’… to get rid of the feelings as quickly as possible… and once again, I decided to bring the feelings back and face them…
and I did the same EFT process again…
I didn’t do a full EFT ’sandwich’… I just tapped on several different spots including beneath-the-eye, eyebrow, k-27’s, the crown, the thymus, the karate chop point, etc… I did some deep breathing… I focused on the emotionally charged events of the past… and continued to affirm that I ‘completely accept and appreciate myself!’
I had the same results the second time that I had the first… virtually no emotional charge left to the memories…
All this EFT in the shower got me thinking:
The insights don’t always come during meditation…
Sometimes you discover very interesting things going on in your consciousness outside your formal practice of meditation… the more you make connections to the deeper aspects of your mind … through meditation, self hypnosis, brainwave entrainment, heart coherence, work with EFT or the radiant circuits, etc… you begin to create bridges to you’re unconscious, now…. and as you do that, you can start to gain deep insights into your self… during formal practice of meditation, or anywhere else in your life… even in the shower…;^)
The great thing about EFT is that it is such a powerful tool for balance and integration, you will become more and more confident when facing your own challenging memories… acceptance gets easier and easier…
With a little practice, no matter where the feelings arise, you will quickly and confidently be able to use tapping, breathing, and affirming to balance them!
It pays to play with EFT!
keep smiling,
Ben
