“Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
And the countdown is an excellent way to do this… when you make it a part of your being.
What would it be like if you could just count yourself into peace and relaxation… anywhere… anytime?
You can use the countdown to narrow your focus down to a single point of light…
Or you can use the countdown to diffuse your perception into the totality of all that is…
(you’ll have to picture that on your own
)
The countdown is a clue to the nature of divided consciousness… and ultimately you can use it to draw your own consciousness progressively back to oneness.
Important Note: When you do the countdown, you can visualize the number, say the number out loud, or say the number inside your mind… or you can do all three. As always, find what works best for you.

Formal Practice: As you sit, breathe deeply, and with each exhale say out loud and visualize a number, starting with 10 (or 25… or more if you like). Then continue to 9. Allow yourself to sink further into relaxation. Then 8. Deeper and deeper. And on to 1. Continue to breathe and enjoy this place of peace. Now contemplate a challenging concept, belief, attitude, etc. Take another deep breath, and as you exhale, start again at the number 10. Begin to accept. Now down to 9. Allow a little more peace and acceptance to flow. And continue on to 1. Everytime you practice, when you come to a deeper place of peace, or you begin to accept a challenging situation, concept, person, etc… take a few moments to enjoy the new place of Power you have counted yourself into.
Informal Practice: Start counting yourself into relaxation, comfort, peace, or any other pleasing state (you will notice they are all somewhat related) throughout your life. Start in neutral or mildly relaxed states… and count yourself deeper into relaxation. Once this is easy, begin to notice the challenging thoughts and feelings that arise during everyday life… and start to count yourself into a relaxed state from there. Eventually, you will be able to count yourself into a peaceful place in even the most challenging situations.
Notice your ability to count yourself in and out of states… notice the countdown making it easier and easier to quickly transition between places in consciousness…
Keep practicing the countdown!
Consistency with even this one simple hypnotic tool will completely transform your life…
keep smiling,
Benjamin
