Daily Meditation – Soften (4-13-10)

by Benjamin Langley on

“To be able to fill leisure intelligently is the last product of civilization, and at present very few people have reached this level.”

-Bertrand Russell

Too true.

How many of us can simply sit back and enjoy relaxation?

How many of us can really enjoy peace and quiet without:

  • finding something to ‘keep busy’
  • having a drink
  • having a smoke
  • reading a book
  • calling a friend
  • etc. etc. etc.

The answer (at least in my experience) is

Not very many of us!

One of the goals of Peaceful Prosperity is to equip you with these skills…

Daily Meditation – Soften

(4-13-10)

Formal Practice: When you have a few minutes… take some time to sit peacefully by yourself, and take a few deep breaths.  Once you feel nice and relaxed, start to notice any remaining spots of tension in your body… and gently say to them “Soften”… After that, notice any places in your body that you would like to relax even more… and say to them “Soften”

Informal Practice: As you go about your day, contemplate the word “Soften”.  Pay attention to how stiff or fluid your body is… as you notice stiffness, say to the stiffness:  “Soften”.  If you are doing something physically challenging, say to yourself “Soften”.  Say it out loud or internally as appropriate.  If possible, play with both to see which yields the best results.

When there is tension in your body, mindful use of the word “Soften” will gradually melt it away…

Leaving you to feel more relaxed and peaceful!

keep smiling,

Ben
