“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.”
-Phillip K. Dick
But most of us are trapped in the illusory ‘reality’… because we don’t know how to let go of beliefs… or we simply refuse to.
Most people would much rather be ‘right’ (and/or convince others that they are right) than humbly seek the Truth!
Such is the nature of hypnosis…
Hypnosis dominates most of waking life for most of the population…
Most of us cling to ‘certainties’ that are actually just foolishness that we learned as children when we were too young to know any better.
So how do we really wake up?
First, we begin to understand ‘the nature of the beast’…

Formal Practice: Start with a few deep breaths and allow yourself to relax. Pour as much of your focus into the relaxation as possible. Allow yourself to be at peace. Give yourself some time… and notice what arises. Do any particular thoughts or feelings keep popping up to distract you? Just notice. If they are insistent, simply thank them, and return to the place of peace.
Informal Practice: Notice the challenging thoughts and feelings that arise during everyday life. Remember that they are just thoughts and feelings passing through. They are not you! Let them go as they arise. Notice the ones that seem to be the most insistent. Thank them… and let them go. Surrender them!
There is a story from Buddhism that illustrates the long term effects of the process nicely…
It is said that soon after his enlightenment the Buddha passed a man on the road who was struck by the Buddha’s extraordinary radiance and peaceful presence. The man stopped and asked,
“My friend, what are you?
Are you a celestial being
or a god?”“No,”
said the Buddha.
“Well, then, are you some kind of magician
or wizard?”Again the Buddha answered,
“No.”
“Are you a man?”
“No.”
“Well, my friend, then what are you?”
The Buddha replied,
“I am awake.”
Simply becoming aware of the hypnosis in your life begins the process of awakening.
Enjoy the awakening!
keep smiling,
Benjamin
