What can we really expect from Binaural Beats Mp3s… are they the ‘instant Zen Master’ cure all they are advertised to be?
Are there every any guarantees?

I think Rhoda Kopy just gave us the best guarantee that can be had in any personal development or spiritual growth product.
Ultimately… there are no magic bullets.
Most of us would love to walk into a hypnotist’s office (or doctor, or therapist, or just the local drug store) and get the magical one shot fix to all of our problems. Unfortunately, it almost never works this way.
And so it is with Brainwave Entrainment (which is used in most of the guided hypnosis and meditation recordings on the market, today). Brainwave Entrainment has become one of the more recent Magic Bullet fixes for a variety of mental, emotional, and physical problems.
Out of the many forms of Brainwave Entrainment, the current most popular type is binaural beats.
Binaural Beats Downloads are just one of a great variety of downloadable guided meditation style exercises that are available for purchase online.
Like many things, the primary shortcoming isn’t with the product/technology, it is the way that people approach using it that makes for poor results. In the case of binaural beats, people frequently…
- Buy them and don’t use them
- Many people that do use them, only use them occasionally, but not consistently
- Out of those who use them consistently, most never understand what can reasonably be expected, or what to do to really get the most out of them
So what can reasonably be expected… are there any guaranteed results of using brainwave entrainment?
And just how can we get the most out of them?

Several researchers (Jose Silva and Dr Jeffrey Thompson to list two) have found that by doing nothing else other than closing the eyes and listening to the brainwave entrainment recording, people can experience deep relaxation.
And deep relaxation is pretty cool. It can help overcome minor insomnia and reduce stress, which in turn minimizes or eliminates a variety of stress related conditions (high blood pressure, anxiety attacks, headaches, depression, heart disease, etc.).
So what’s the problem?
The problem is, that the majority of the brainwave entrainment programs out there aren’t being sold just for relaxation.
And even the ones that are being sold just for relaxation, would greatly benefit from a more active approach.
But there are a wide variety of promises out there that range from getting rich or finding your soul mate, all the way to meditating deeper than a Zen Master.
So what can we take away from this… how do we get better results with Binaural Beats?
The primary take-away is that without consistent practice, there is little chance of long term change. So cultivate the willingness to practice consistently. It doesn’t have to be daily (although that is the best way in my opinion), but make sure you practice at least a few times every week.
3 more critical elements that go unmentioned in most binaural beats programs:
- You must cultivate a strong Intent
- You have to pay attention to, and appropriately adjust your internal and external Environment
- You must take Appropriate Action (listening to the brainwave entrainment tracks is part of this, but if you are trying to lose weight, exercise will be an important action to take, as well)
Without proper Intent, proper Environment, and proper Follow Through (continuing to take Appropriate Action), any guided meditation, hypnosis, or brainwave entrainment program will not work for you.

I most definitely think that the most important thing you can do when listening to these audios is set your intention. Your environment and taking action are very important too, but nothing is more important than setting your intention before you start. Knowing what results you are expecting to see and shifting your thoughts to experience those results. Great post.

Intent is the most important thing.
If the intent is firmly set, the environment and action will organize themselves appropriately in good time.
