5 Ways to Eliminate a Headache!

Virtually everybody gets headaches from time to time… and they really suck!

They get in the way of work, relationships, and just generally having a good time.

So how do we get past this nuisance?

Here are 5 ways to eliminate headaches (they are also good for pain relief in general):

  1. deep breathing:  Deep breathing on its own can bring about deep relaxation and powerful feelings of pleasure in the body.  Exhale completely… then inhale deeply, feeling your stomach and chest expand with the breath… then exhale and let it all go… repeat as many times as you like!
  2. progressive relaxation:  This is a powerful method of developing deep relaxation very quickly.  Tighten up the neck and shoulders (and face and scalp if you like), hold for a few seconds… then allow them to relax.  Just relax for a few seconds… then tighten them up again, hold for a few seconds… then allow them to relax a little bit deeper.  Repeat this up to 5 times.
  3. bring down the energy:  Energy methodologies teach us that headaches are often due to excessive energy trapped in the head.  So if we get this energy flowing again, or bring it out of the head, the headache goes away.  The easiest way to do this is to massage your head in a downward motion.  Put a smile on your face… place your fingers in the middle of your forehead, and pull/stroke outward to the temples… then move up to your hairline, and do the same thing…. then do it again on the crown of the head, pulling down to the ears… do it again on the back of the head… then take a minute to gently stroke your face, the sides of your head, and the back of your head downward to your neck chest and shoulders… keep smiling while you do this exercise
  4. Programming/self-hypnosis:  Stating some sort of affirmation with intent (intent adds the ‘magick’) can be very powerful for changing anything, including a headache.  If you like, you can use this (or any of these methods) in conjunction with the quick countdown meditation.  Visualize the removal of all ‘negative’ energy in your head, and replace it with what you would like to be there (a pleasing blue color, if you can’t think of something else).  Imagine the uncomfortable feelings flowing out your head… imagine relaxed, pleasant sensations taking their place.  You can even hum a pleasant little tune, and say to yourself on the inside “My head is feeling better, better, and better!”
  5. integrated method:  But why not have the best of all worlds?  Tighten up the neck, shoulders, face and scalp as you take a deep breath… hold it for a few second (the tension and the breath)… now exhale and relax as you gently pull the energy down from your head and say “My head is beginning to feel better, better, and better!”, while you visualize a relaxed blue energy filling your head, and flowing down through the rest of your body.  Do this 5 times.

Any one of these methods of headache relief can be powerful on its own.  It’s good to practice the first 4 methods to get a ‘feel’ for them before you bring them all together in the integrated method.  In fact, you will often notice that a little bit of just one of the first 4 methods will be more than enough to relieve the headache by itself.

The more you practice, the more you are programming yourself to overcome the headache.  Eventually, this happens automatically without you having to think about it, or consciously ‘do’ anything.  This is the point where you have practically eliminated headaches from your life.

Personally, I used to get headaches several times a week… almost daily.  Now I only get mild headaches once every few months, and I get rid of them very quickly (almost as soon as I become aware of them).
